Resurrection Cookies
Resurrection Cookies
This recipe is made with children the night before Easter, reading a Bible passage at each step.
Ingredients:
1 cup whole pecans
1 teaspoon vinegar
3 egg whites
Pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 300°F.
2. Place the pecans in a zip-top bag and let the children break them into small pieces with a wooden spoon (John 19:1-3).
3. Put the vinegar in a mixing bowl (John 19:28-30). Add the egg whites (John 10:10-11) and a pinch of salt (Luke 23:27). Add the sugar (Psalm 34:8, John 3:16).
4. Beat with a mixer on high speed 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks form (Isaiah 1:18, John 3:1-3).
5. Fold in the nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper (Matthew 27:57-60).
6. Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven off. Seal the oven door with tape (Matthew 27:65-66) and leave overnight (John 16:20, 22).
7. In the morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. The cookies are hollow, like the empty tomb (Matthew 28:1-9).
