German Apple Fritters
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 eggs (divided), 2 tbsp room temperature butter, 1 cup apple cider, 3 tart apples, 3 tbsp lemon juice, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, oil for frying, powdered sugar for dusting.
Directions:
Whisk flour, cider, egg yolks, butter, and salt until smooth. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites and fold them into the batter. Peel, core, and slice apples; toss them with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Dip apple slices into batter and fry in hot oil for 10 minutes until golden and puffy. Drain and dust with powdered sugar.
