Cable Car Chocolate Wheels
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs (about 3 1/2 whole crackers)
1 cup margarine
1/2 cup unsalted (sweet) butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
4 eggs
2 tablespoons orange liqueur or amaretto liqueur
12 ounces (2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped mixed nuts
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and graham cracker crumbs; set aside.
3. In a large bowl, combine the margarine, butter, and sugars, and beat with an electric mixer at high speed until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the liqueur. Mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until well blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts by hand. Drop by scant quarter-cupfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets, spacing cookies about 3 inches apart. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until cookies are golden brown. Watch carefully; these cookies brown very quickly. Transfer to racks to cool.
Note:
Serve as a special dessert topped with chocolate ice cream, hot fudge sauce, whipped cream, and chocolate sprinkles.
