Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup margarine, at room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon hot water
12 ounces (2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Mix the flour, cocoa, and salt; set aside.
3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the margarine until it is smooth, then add the sugars. Add the eggs and vanilla, then beat until the mixture is pale and fluffy. Stir in half of the dry ingredients. In another large bowl, stir the baking soda into the water. Add this to the batter, then stir in the remaining flour until the mixture is well blended. Gently stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets (or baking sheets covered with ungreased pieces of foil), spacing cookies about 2 inches apart. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until cookies appear firm.
Note:
A soft, flavorful cookie, this double chocolate chip cookie will delight the most discerning palate.
