Let It Sit for a Bit
Tomato-based meals tend to develop better flavors after they sit for a day or two. For maximum flavor,
make this sauce a couple of days before you need to use it and store it in the refrigerator.
1. Heat butter in a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic and
sauté until browned, about 5 minutes.
2. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and seasonings. Stir
and bring to a simmer.
3. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator in airtight container.
Homemade Mayonnaise
You can use olive oil in this recipe in place of avocado oil. If you prefer a milder
taste, opt for extra-light olive oil. If you like mayonnaise with a strong olive oil
flavor, go for extra-virgin.
