Easy Caramel Sauce
Ingredients:
4 teaspoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Directions:
1/ cup heavy cream
2
Topping
1 pint vanilla ice cream
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 9 by 13-inch baking pan with butter or
cooking spray and lightly dust with flour.
2. Make the brownies first. Combine the butter and semisweet chocolate in a
bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until melted. Add the
granulated sugar and stir until it dissolves. Remove the bowl from the pan. Let
cool slightly.
3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well with a wooden spoon after each
addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir the dry
ingredients into the chocolate mixture and blend well. Stir in the chopped nuts, if
using.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake the brownie in the hot oven for
15 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly sticky.
6. Let cool in the pan on a wire rack, then cut into 6 or 8 individual brownies.
7. Make the chocolate sauce: Combine the butter and milk chocolate in a bowl set
over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until melted. Add the granulated
sugar and stir until it dissolves.
8. Whisk in the heavy cream and stir until the mixture is well combined. Remove
the bowl from the pan and keep the sauce warm.
9. Make the caramel sauce: Combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and butter in a
saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the butter melts and is blended with the
sugar.
10. Whisk in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
11. Let the caramel sauce cool before using.
12. Assemble the dessert: Place each brownie in a shallow bowl. Spoon
chocolate sauce over each one.
13. Put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the chocolate sauce.
14. Drizzle caramel sauce over the ice cream.
