Maple And Cinnamon Baked Apples And Pears

Maple And Cinnamon Baked Apples And Pears

Ingredients:
2 large apples or pears
2 tsp pure maple syrup
3 tsp water
dash of ground cinnamon
small handful of raisins

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C/gas 5).
2. Slice off the top of each fruit to make “lids” about ½ inch (1 cm) thick and set them
aside.
3. Using a small knife or corer, hollow out the center of each fruit to a diameter of 1
inch (2.5 cm), being careful not to poke through to the bottom. If using a paring knife,
you might need to make the initial cut and then use a spoon to dig out the core.
4. Put the maple syrup, water, and cinnamon in a small bowl and whisk together.
5. Divide the raisins equally between the fruit hollows, then add the syrup mixture.
Don’t worry if the liquid doesn’t reach the top—it will increase during cooking
6. Replace the “lids” on the fruit and stand them in a small baking dish lined with
baking parchment, making sure they fit snugly so that they don’t tip over.
7. Cover the dish with foil, then make 3 slits in it with a paring knife to allow steam to
escape.
8. Bake for 35–45 minutes, until tender.
