Steel-Cut Oats
Ingredients:
oats
milk, fluid, 1% fat, without added vitamin a and vitamin d
salt, table
butter, without salt
spices, cinnamon, ground
Directions:
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a 6-quart saucepan.
Stir in the oats and boil for 3 minutes.
Remove from the heat.
Cover and allow the oats to stand overnight.
When ready to serve, stir the milk, salt, butter, and cinnamon into the oats.
Stir and cook the oatmeal over medium-low heat until it comes to a boil.
Reduce the heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
If the mixture looks dry, add a little water.
Remove the pan from the heat.
Add the sweetener or topping of your choice and serve.
