Cape Breton 'Pork Pies' Recipe
Ingredients:
butter, without salt
sugars, powdered
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
dates, deglet noor
sugars, brown
lemon juice, raw
Directions:
TART SHELLS: Cut the butter into the flour; add in the sugar rand knead till well blended.
Press small amounts of dough into small muffin tins.
Press small amounts of dough into small muffin tins.
Bake in a 425F oven for 10 min.
When cold fill with the following: FILLING: Simmer the above ingredients till the dates are of soft consistency.
Cold; then fill the tart shells.
Ice with butter icing.
