Applesauce Cake
Ingredients:
oil, olive, salad or cooking
sugars, granulated
applesauce, canned, unsweetened, without added ascorbic acid (includes usda commodity)
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
leavening agents, baking powder, double-acting, sodium aluminum sulfate
spices, cloves, ground
spices, nutmeg, ground
spices, cinnamon, ground
leavening agents, baking soda
salt, table
raisins, seeded
nuts, pecans
Directions:
Cream together oil, sugar and applesauce with a mixer.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon,baking soda, and salt.
Slowly add to the mixer and mix till combined.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Use shortening to grease a tube pan well and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or maybe a little longer, depending on your oven.
Let cool for about 15 minutes.
My great-grandmother would give these as gifts at Christmas time.
