Tamari Toasted Miso Soup
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons miso
2 teaspoons tamari
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
Directions:
At Home: Combine kombu and fish flakes in an airtight plastic bag. Combine the miso,
tamari, and oil and package separately.
In Camp: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the kombu mixture and boil for 5
minutes. Stir in the miso mixture, heat thoroughly, and serve.
Variations: Add 1 cup of noodles at the beginning; drop in Dilly Dumplings () at the beginning and cook 10 minutes in all; add dried shrimp at the beginning, or
canned fish or shrimp at the end.
Garnishes: Sliced lemon; broken pieces of Zwieback (); popcorn; dried
chives; Parmesan cheese.
Fish Soup
serves 2
This is a nice change from steamed or fried fish. Use a fillet of fresh fish, or else use
canned fish.
