Honey Cardamom chopped

Ingredients:
½ cup honey
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 cardamom pods, husks removed

Directions:
In a moderate oven (350°F), toast the sesame seeds and nuts for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a frying pan over medium heat, melt the honey, sugar, and spices.
Stirring constantly, bring to a boil and cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in
seeds and nuts, mixing well. Turn into an oiled 9-by-13-inch pan and press flat. Cut
while slightly warm. Cool before wrapping.
Variations: Add ½ cup chopped dried dates or cranberries, or ½ cup coconut.

Zwieback
Got a drooling baby in your pack? Take along zwieback.
This is a good idea for any whole-grain yeasted bread. It makes the bread
lightweight and long lasting. Zwieback may be broken into soups or salads to add
crunchiness.
Slice bread ½ inch thick or a little thicker and bake on open oven racks at 225°F for
approximately 2½ hours. Carry in a plastic bag.
Sesame Chia Crackers
makes approximately 2 dozen
These crunchy crackers are easy to make.
2 cups whole wheat flour or 1½ cups oat flour plus ¾
cup soy flour
