Apple brown betty

Ingredients:
5 cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped
100g/4oz butter
90g/31⁄2oz Demerara or tender brown sugar
finely grated zest of 1 lemon
1⁄2 teaspoon floor cinnamon pinch of floor nutmeg
225g/8oz new breadcrumbs

Directions:
First, preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Fuel mark 4. Flippantly grease a 1.2-litre/2pt ovenproof dish.
Then, cook the apples with 15g/1⁄2oz of the butter, 15g/1⁄2oz of the sugar, the lemon zest, cinnamon and nutmeg for 10â€"15 minutes until finally the apples are delicate sufficient to fight to a purée.
