Spiced beef & onions
Ingredients:
50ml/2fl oz olive oil
700g/11â„2lb baby onions
900g/2lb chuck steak, trimmed and slash into chunk-dimension cubes
3 garlic cloves, halved lengthways
125ml/4fl oz crimson wine
1 cinnamon adhere
4 cloves
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon crimson wine vinegar
2 tablespoons tomato purée
375ml/13fl oz water
2 tablespoons currants
salt and recently floor black pepper
Directions:
First, warm the oil more than a medium warm inside a higher major saucepan. Incorporate the onions and sauté, stirring, for 5 minutes or right up until golden. Remove in opposition to the pan and drain upon kitchen area paper.
Then, include the meat to the pan, and stir around a superior warm for 10 minutes or till the meat is very well browned and nearly all the liquid includes evaporated.
Then, include the garlic, wine, spices, bay leaf, vinegar and tomato purée. Period with salt and pepper. Pour 375ml/13fl oz water into the pan, and provide to the boil. Do away with the warm, protect and simmer for 1 hour, stirring from time to time.
Finally, return the onions to the saucepan, increase the currants and stir carefully. Simmer, protected, for 15 minutes. Discard the cinnamon in advance of serving. meat & recreation.
