Onion tart
Ingredients:
4 rashers streaky bacon, diced)
25g/1oz self-growing flour
50g/2oz butter pinch of salt
For the filling
6 onions, sliced
150ml/5fl oz boiling water
50g/2oz butter
1 teaspoon dried merged herbs
2 egg yolks
50ml/2fl oz double product salt and recently flooring
black pepper
Directions:
First, preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gasoline mark 4. Grease a medium-sized baking tin.
Then, to create the pastry, sift the flour into a bowl and rub inside the butter. Include a pinch of salt to 50ml/2fl oz water, then slowly and gradually include to the bowl right up until the combination sorts a ball. Roll out and employ to line the backside of the tin.
Then, for the filling, sweat the onions in just the boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain.
Then, fry the bacon inside a tiny of the butter until eventually crisp. Include the getting butter, onions, blended herbs, salt and pepper, and cook for 15 minutes.
Finally, overcome the egg yolks and product with each other. Incorporate to the onion blend, and pour into the baking tin. Bake within just the oven for 40â€"45 minutes. Provide scorching. savoury pies & tarts.
