Walnut Nectarine Tarte

Ingredients:
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
salt, table
sugars, powdered
butter, without salt
applesauce, canned, unsweetened, without added ascorbic acid (includes usda commodity)
nectarines, raw
jams and preserves, apricot
nuts, walnuts, english

Directions:
In a big bowl combine flour, salt and sugar.
Rub in butter using your fingers until coarse crumbs form.
Add the applesauce and knead into a soft, but not sticky dough.
Form a ball and wrap into cling film.
Chill for 1 hour.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a round of approximately 10 inches.
Pat into a 20 cm/8 inch spring-form pan.
In a second bowl combine jam and nectarine slices (for easier mixing heat jam in microwave).
Pour this into the pie shell.
If youd like a more sophisticated presentation arrange nectarine slices in concentric circles on the dough, slightly overlapping.
Sprinkle with chopped walnuts and bake in the pre-heated oven at 200C/400F for 30-35 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream or ice-cream if you like.
