Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups active sourdough starter
4 cups unbleached flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons melted shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
Into a large bowl, sift the dry ingredients, and dig a well in the center for the sourdough starter. Mix the dry ingredients into the starter from the edges with enough flour to knead until soft and shiny. Place in a greased bowl and let rise until nearly double. Shape into 2 loaves and place in greased bread pans. Bake at 375
