Light and Delicious Biscuits
Ingredients:
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
wheat flour, white, cake, enriched
leavening agents, baking powder, double-acting, sodium aluminum sulfate
leavening agents, baking soda
salt, table
cheese, parmesan, hard
butter, without salt
milk, buttermilk, fluid, cultured, lowfat
milk, fluid, 1% fat, without added vitamin a and vitamin d
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In nonreactive mixing bowl, stir together flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Using pastry blender, cut in cream cheese and butter until pea size lumps form.
Stir in buttermilk with fork.
Gather dough into ball and kneed it several times in bowl until smooth.
Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface.
Pat into smooth 1/2 inch thick disk.
With 3-inch cutter, cut out rounds.
Repeat with dough scraps until you have 10 biscuits.
Brush tops with nonfat milk.
Place biscuits on baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly coated with no-stick cooking spray.
Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden.
Makes 10 biscuits.
