Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients:
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
leavening agents, baking powder, double-acting, sodium aluminum sulfate
salt, table
shortening, vegetable, household, composite
milk, buttermilk, fluid, cultured, lowfat

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in shortening until crumbly.
Stir in buttermilk just until moistened.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead until smooth, about 1 minute.
Roll out dough to 3/4 inch thickness.
Cut into 8 (2 inch) biscuits, place 1 inch apart onto a ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 10 to 14 minutes.
