6-ingredient Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients:
butter, without salt
milk, buttermilk, fluid, cultured, lowfat
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
sugars, granulated
leavening agents, baking powder, double-acting, sodium aluminum sulfate
salt, table
Directions:
Cut butter and put it in the fridge (or freezer).
Measure out buttermilk and put that in the fridge as well.
Melt remaining butter in a small bowl or ramekin and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Whisk.
Cut in the cold butter until it looks like cornmeal.
Pour in the buttermilk and knead dough with your fingers until it all comes together, then pat dough out onto a lightly floured surface until its about 1/2 to 1 inch thick.
Cut with biscuit cutter or glass cup.
Place biscuits on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet close together and brush with melted butter.
Put baking sheet with biscuits in the oven and bake until golden brown, about 1015 minutes, then remove from oven and cool on a baking rack or cutting board.
