South African Date Rolls (eggless)

Ingredients:
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
butter, without salt
sugars, granulated
milk, fluid, 1% fat, without added vitamin a and vitamin d
leavening agents, baking powder, double-acting, sodium aluminum sulfate
salt, table
shortening confectionery, coconut (hydrogenated) and or palm kernel (hydrogenated)
dates, deglet noor
milk, fluid, 1% fat, without added vitamin a and vitamin d

Directions:
Combine the butter and sugar then add the flour and baking powder to form a crumb like texture then add 2 tablespoons milk to bind the mixture.
Knead until you have a soft pliable cookie like texture.A A
Take a small piece of your biscuit dough then press piece of date into it rolling it into a ball then into a long finger like shape.
Once you have shaped all your dough start by dipping your date rolls into milk then into coconut and finally onto a lined/lightly buttered baking sheet.
Once all your date rolls have been covered in coconut, bake at 180AC for about 15 minutes.
Once out of the oven, place on a rack and allow to cool.
You can store your date rolls in an airtight container for about a week.
