Nauvoo Bread
Ingredients:
water, bottled, generic
potatoes, raw, skin
sugars, granulated
milk, fluid, 1% fat, without added vitamin a and vitamin d
salt, table
oil, olive, salad or cooking
leavening agents, yeast, baker's, active dry
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
Directions:
Combine hot water, shortening, potato flakes, powdered milk, sugar.
Stir to dissolve shortening, if using shortening instead of oil.
When temperature is tepid, add yeast.
Mix in 5 cups flour and the salt.
Stir to a smooth sponge.
Add flour to make a smooth and elastic dough.
Let rise until double (about 45 minutes).
Punch down and let rise again.
Shape into loaves let rise.
Bake in 375F oven for about 35 minutes.
