Asparagus Cheese Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:
butter, without salt
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
milk, buttermilk, fluid, cultured, lowfat
salt, table
spices, pepper, black
cheese, cheddar
asparagus, raw
bread crumbs, dry, grated, plain

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F degrees.
In a medium saucepan, heat 4 Tbsp.
butter over medium heat and blend in flour.
Add in the c. of liquid from the asparagus and the lowfat milk and heat, stirring constantly, till thickened.
Add in salt, pepper, and 1 c. of cheese; over same heat, stirring till cheese is melted.
Remove from heat.
Arrange asparagus in a shallow 2-qt casserole and top with cheese sauce.
Toss remaining cheese with bread crumbs; sprinkle over sauce; dot with remaining Tbsp.
of butter.
Bake, uncovered, 20 min, or possibly till bubbly and lightly browned.
