Stir-Fried Brussels Sprouts
Ingredients:
brussels sprouts, raw
oil, olive, salad or cooking
spices, garlic powder
soy sauce made from soy (tamari)
spices, pepper, red or cayenne
sugars, granulated
seeds, sesame seeds, whole, dried
lime juice, raw
Directions:
After rinsing your sprouts and trimming excess leaves, cut a shallow X in the bottom of each.
Steam for five to seven minutes, until tender-crisp (longer if you prefer softer veggies).
While the sprouts are steaming, combine the Olive Oil, Minced Garlic, Soy Sauce, Red Pepper flakes (use less if you do not like hot, or omit all together), Sugar, Sesame Seeds, and Lime Juice in a small bowl.
Whisk together.
As the sprouts finish steaming, heat a wok or large pan over high heat, until almost smoking.
Slide the sprouts into the pan, shaking occasionally for 30 to 60 seconds.
Pour the dressing over the Brussels sprouts, shaking the pan to coat.
Continue until the liquid evaporates.
*If you wish to make this dish truly decadent, caramelize half a ribboned sweet onion, and 3-4 strips of diced bacon together in the bottom of the pan as the sprouts steam in step one.
