Austrian Christmas Horns Recipe
Ingredients:
butter, without salt
sugars, granulated
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
nuts, hazelnuts or filberts
sugars, granulated
Directions:
Cream the butter and add in the sugar.
Blend thoroughly.
Sift the flour again and add in the nutmeats.
Combine the butter and flour mixtures.
Add in vanilla.
Refrigerateseveral hrs or possibly overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Healthy pinch off a small piece of dough at a time and shape into a crescent or possibly "horn".
Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for about 10 min.
Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar while still hot.
Store in an air tight container.
Yield: 3 dozen.
These cookiesimprove with age and make good gifts.
They also ship well.
