Black-Eyed Susans
Ingredients:
dates, deglet noor
nuts, pecans
cheese, cheddar
margarine, regular, 80% fat, composite, stick, without salt
wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
salt, table
spices, pepper, red or cayenne
sugars, granulated
Directions:
Stuff dates with pecan halves.
Set aside.
Cream the cheese and the margarine together well.
Add flour, salt, and cayenne pepper.
Mix well.
(Note: this dough should be very stiff.
).
Put mixture into cookie press with the box plate attached.
Squeeze out in long strips.
Cut long strips into 2 -3 inch pieces.
Wrap these pieces around pecan-stuffed dates.
Roll in sugar and place on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 300 degrees F until light brown.
